ISBN in eBook?
Wendy Jensen of Wendyjensen.com wrote this in eBook_Community@yahoogroups.com, "No, you don't need an ISBN to publish your ebook and sell it from your site. You only NEED it to sell in bookstores -- and most bookstores don't carry ebooks. It is NICE to have an ISBN, because it gets the ebook listed in Books In Print.
Realize, you can't get ONE ISBN directly from Bowkers (the ISBN supplier). You have to order them in blocks of 10 for $225.
I do resell ISBNs for $25 each through my own 'publishing company' Brave New Books (created to self-publish my own works), but frankly, I don't recommend you buy one just to sell an ebook from your own site. Think about how many ebooks you'd have to sell to recoup the $25, and the only advantage is a listing in BIP."
