One Picture and a Thousand Words
In the future, magazines, catalogues, comics, children's books and Japanese Manga will scroll across the reading tablets of commuters and children at bus stops. Even the GameBoy might get a rest or become a dual purpose product, with both games and books.
Currently, we can only dream of cheap full-color tablets that we can tuck away in our backpacks and pull out when we want to while away a bit of time. Or do we need to dream? What about those little handheld wonders that keep your life organized and download your email? The latest models of electronic organizers, particularly the Pocket PCs, support full color graphics, if only on a small scale.
So what's still holding us back from fully illustrated enjoyment? We have perfectly good technologies for displaying illustrated eBooks.
