Pocket PC eBooks Watch - eBook and beyond

There are ongoing discussions on the No fix for Pocket PC Reader at MS_Reader egroups.
And this great opinion came from Elizabet Duran Gessner:
"If they couldn't fix it, they should have offered some form of compensation, since all of the advertising certainly led one to believe that it would be possible to buy commercially available Reader books for the PocketPC (not just the level 3 freebies). The compensation could, for example, be a trade-in on the new Pocket PC to be released later this year. HP, Compaq and MS produced this jointly, and it was put on the market jointly, so we do not have the case of an out-of-control hardware maker simply taking it upon itself to assert that its product will run somebody else's software. Accordingly, then, I suppose all those involved are liable, and should work out some way of compensating the consumer for what was, intentionally or not, a misrepresentation.
Maybe it's not technically possible to resolve the problem, as you suggest. But, at the same time, DRM5 did not happen overnight. Somebody somewhere must have known about it in advance. And while the makers of the PocketPC (hardware and software) obviously had time limitations as well, since producing a new device certainly also does not happen overnight, the problem emerged very soon after the product went on the market, The makers should definitely have been more forthcoming about the problem, perhaps with a notice to consumers in the press or at least at the time of purchase. And now, since this has dragged on for over a year, during which time we have been regularly told (if we asked, at least), that a solution was coming, I think we have a right to see something. If I had known that they would be unable to solve this problem, I would have returned my PocketPC when the issue of the screen colors (which didn't matter to me) was settled. Technically impossible? Possibly. Impossible to provide an equitable solution? Not at all.
