March of Love
March Is Screw The RIAA Month; Count Me In
The folks over at the Gizmodo website have announced plans to try and get a month-long RIAA boycott off the ground; basically to show them that we (the people who buy the records they produce) aren’t too happy with the bad things they do.
A list that includes suing the pants off of innocent people for supposedly pirating music, trying to kill city-wide free WiFi projects, and for planning to leverage their position of power with music stores like iTunes and Zune Marketplace to get a cut off of each MP3 player sold; which is positively ridiculous, and practically robbery.
The “Boycott The RIAA In March” plan is, basically, to take the month of March off from buying music released by labels involved in the RIAA (and instead encourage you to buy their merchandise, see them in concert, etc.). I personally think this is a great idea, and I myself plan on taking part in this little endeavor.
