The Issue Of Accessible Ebooks
"I would like to point out a few more features which I like about MS Reader and which I would like to find implemented by more ebook reader programs:
1. The ability to stop or start reading with the press of a simple keystroke. Aside from sparing me those repetitive movements, this allows hands-free reading, great if you are doing something else like cleaning or knitting.
2. Thorough documentation of the keyboard shortcuts, or the keyboard commands used to navigate the GUI interface. You would be absolutely amazed at how few companies provide no documentation, or a mere short paragraph which they call documentation. To the blind reader, a GUI interface is not intuitive.
3. Control of the ebook from the keyboard. In MS Reader, this includes volume, rate of speech, easy toggling back and forth in the book in small or large increments, and easy navigation of the list of ebooks.
4. Buttons are all labeled, so a screen reader can speak what the button is and what it does."
